Harry Potter Fandom Excitement at SDCC 2018

Harry Potter at SDCCFictionAlley's Heidi will again be hosting the Harry Potter fandom panel - but this year, it's on Thursday night at 8:15 pm in Room 6DE.We'll be making some FictionAlley announcements and discussing all the magic in and around the Harry Potter/Wizarding World fandom (and canon!) with panelists including journalists Elizabeth Minkel (Fansplaining) and Catherine Horvath (MuggleNet), event organizer Chandrika Moka (Wands Up San Diego), sportsters Dawn Biggs (Hogwarts Running Club) and Jessica Ward (US Quidditch), and creative fans like Eliyannah Amirah Yisrael (Hermione Granger & the Quarter Life Crisis), novelist Alexa DeGennaro (Brightly Burning), podcast play producer Mick Ignis (The Great Wizarding War Podcast), podcaster Gary Roby (HarryPotterMinute), playwright Matt Cox (Puffs; Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic).
You can also catch some wizarding magic at WB's Cinema Panel in Hall H on Saturday morning -- we expect Fantastic Beasts cast members to be there -- and at Melissa Anelli's panel on 20 years of Harry Potter on the printed page, on Saturday afternoon

10th Annual Harry Potter Fandom Panel at SDCC

In 2017 we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone at San Diego Comic Con’s 10th annual Harry Potter Fandom Panel - if you’re going to be at SDCC, we hope you’ll join us!

On Sunday, July 23 at 2pm in Room 6BCF (right before the Buffy panel) we’ll talk all things Potter/fandom with @heidi8 (FictionAlley, @transformativeworks), journalist @elizabethminkel (New Statesman, @fansplaining), Kat Miller (MuggleNet), educator Dr. Ebony Elizabeth Thomas (the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education ( @ebonyteach​)), event organizer Adrienne Alwag (Dumbledore's Army [LA]), and creative fans like writer/director/actor Nick Lang (A Very Potter Musical, StarKid Productions (@the-real-team-starkid )), novelist @alexadonne (Brightly Burning), fan filmmaker Justin Zagri (Severus Snape and the Marauders), theatrical producer David Carpenter (Puffs; or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic), and Jessica Ward of @usquidditch discuss the magic of new canon on stage, on screen, in amusement parks, in libraries, and, of course, online.

Harry Potter Fandom @ San Diego Comic Con



Fantastic Fans & Where to Find Them poster for Comic Con 2015 - Harry Potter fandom panelSan Diego Comic Con is next week, and there's a number of events on the schedule for Harry Potter fans. Daniel Radcliffe will be at Nerdist at Petco Park on Saturday afternoon for an on-stage Q&A, and on Sunday, SDCC welcomes the return of the annual Harry Potter Fandom Panel.

It'll be July 12 at 10:15 AM in Room 6A; this year, the panelists are:

Also, on Thursday and Friday, Friend of FA friend Hansi Oppenheimer will have her production team at SDCC to interview fandomers for SQUEE!, her forthcoming documentary on fandom - let her know if you’re interested in doing an interview.
