Counting Down...

Depending on where you live, there's only two or three or four days until Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 comes to a theater near you. Fandomers from around the world have been marking this last week by lining up to see the cast, producers and J.K. Rowling at premieres, rewatching the films, rereading the books, revisiting really old threads in forums like FictionAlley Park that've been around for about ten years, or more, and engaging in fannish creativity.

Some noteworthy examples are:

The Hillywood Show's spoof of Rebecca Black's 'classic' Friday.

Lucy Knisley's comic strip rendition of all eight films (well, it's somewhat predictive of DH2) - it's suitable for printing.

United World of Potter - a mashup of 25 songs and all eight films (spoilers only for the DH2 trailers released through June 17).

Through the Pensieve, a retrospective spanning all eight films, this tells the story of the bravery of children, the folly of the powerful, and the overriding force of love. It's had over 500,000 hits in under a month!

Which retrospectives have you enjoyed these last few months? Share them in the comments for all to enjoy!

  1. I hope you're having a great week with the upcoming release of part 2 of the Deathly Hallows! My name is Harrison and I work with SnagFilms.com. We are an online library of over 2100 films, free for audiences to stream. I just wanted to let you know that a film that you may be very interested in, "We Are Wizards", is now available for free streaming via this link: http://www.snagfilms.com/films/title/we_are_wizards/

Please consider spreading the word about this film either on or through your website. There is an embeddable link on the linked page I've provided. Please feel free to also email me back with questions, and would also like to know if you decide to use it so we can send it out through our network for cross promotion! Given the timely release of the film, this would be a tremendous opportunity for both of us!

    Thank you for your time,
    Harrison
